The recognized deal was the acquisition of Generational Capital Markets (GCM) client Dock Edge +, Inc., by Canada Metal (Pacific) Ltd., a subsidiary of Branford Castle Partners. The deal closed on September 12, 2016.
GCM Managing Director Chris Heckert advised Dock Edge + in the transaction. “I am honored by this award,” said Heckert. “This transaction was a great example of the benefits of international M&A and I look forward to seeing this partnership continue to grow.”
The M&A Advisor is the world’s premier think tank and leadership organization for M&A, restructuring and corporate finance professionals. It hosts the International M&A Awards every year to recognize the top international deals, dealmakers and firms conducting important transactions in the Americas, Europe, Asia, Middle East, Africa and Australia.
This year’s finalists were from more than 60 companies and represented every major market in the world. An independent judging committee of 23 top M&A industry experts determined the ultimate recipients of the awards.
“Since the introduction of the International M&A Awards in 2009, we have continued to witness the growth of cross-border M&A outpace that of domestic dealmaking volume. And we attribute this to the new generation of global M&A experts whose intimate knowledge and expertise in the cultural, financial and legal arenas are redefining our industry,” said David Fergusson, President and Co-CEO of The M&A Advisor. “The 2017 International M&A Award winners represent the best of the international M&A industry in 2016 who earned these honors by standing out in a group of very impressive finalists.”
GCM President Brenen Hofstadter added, “Hearty congratulations to Chris! The deal was tough, and the competition in this award category was even tougher. It was great to be there to see him receive this prestigious award.”
